Blindfolded for 40 hours!

Hi, I am Chloe and I did the 40 Hour Famine. Blindfolded for 40 hours!! I felt it quite difficult but
easy at the same time. The blindfold I was wearing was VERY ichy so I had to adjust it every now and then. I was wearing an eye mask with a scarf on top of it. Here are a few photos of me doing it.
Do you think I am awake or SLEEPING!??

This is a photo of me in my bedroom, just about to take it of.

I felt a bit dizzy when I took it of!

Blue Duck Release - Julian

On Tuesday 24th April si room 11 kids went to the Egmont National park to release blue ducks. My Mum took me, Jake and Tuscany to the Egmont national Park. When we got there we met the DOC rangers to help us release the blue duck.

A lot of eggs are laid. People take the eggs to Palmerston North because the blue duck are now a endangered species. Then they fly in a plane to Christchurch and grow bigger. Then they fly back to Palmerston North, then drive to the Egmont national park, then get released.

Did you know that the blue duck (whio) can swim backwards. Blue ducks' biggest predator are stoats. Stoats are small but they can take down the blue ducks. This is what happens.

 1. Stoats take down the mother duck.
2. Take the mother and the eggss
3. Eat the mother duck.
4.Eat other baby ducklings that hatch.

That is what happens.

Blue Duck Release - Courtney

Six room 11 kids travelled to Egmont National Park to release the blue ducks on Tuesday 24 April 2012. We travelled in a car for a while. When we saw got to Egmont National Park we saw Kelly (D.O.C. Ranger) and she told us what we were going to do to release them.

The blue duck is endangered because there are only a few left because of STOATS, mostly stoats. The blue ducks came here by plane from Christchurch to Palmerston North and then were driven to Stratford.

When they were eggs DOC rangers or some of them went to the Egmont National Park to collect the eggs and they were taken and hatched and now they are grown they have come back to the Egmont National Park.

Blue Duck Release - Janelle

On Tuesday 24 April we take the blue duck to the river. The blue duck was in the box. I let the duck go. It went into the river. It swam n the river. It feel happy to go in the river.

Blue Duck Release - Tuscany

On Tuesday the 24th of April, Courtney, Aimee, Jake and Julian went to the end of York Road.

We went to release the Whio into the wild.

Did you know that our Blue Duck is the only duck that can blush?

Tuscany

Blue Duck Release - Jake

On Tuesday 24 6 kids from room 11 went up to Egmont National Park at the end of York Road. We walked for about an hour to the river. We were on the river bank when one of the D.O.C. rangers did a demonstration on how we were to release the blue duck out of the box.

Blue duck are endangered because of all their pests. Their biggest pest is the stoat. The Stoat waits for the mother to hop off the eggs and then the stoat eats the eggs and can even kill the mother.
