On Tuesday 24th April si room 11 kids went to the Egmont National park to release blue ducks. My Mum took me, Jake and Tuscany to the Egmont national Park. When we got there we met the DOC rangers to help us release the blue duck.
A lot of eggs are laid. People take the eggs to Palmerston North because the blue duck are now a endangered species. Then they fly in a plane to Christchurch and grow bigger. Then they fly back to Palmerston North, then drive to the Egmont national park, then get released.
Did you know that the blue duck (whio) can swim backwards. Blue ducks' biggest predator are stoats. Stoats are small but they can take down the blue ducks. This is what happens.
1. Stoats take down the mother duck.
2. Take the mother and the eggss
3. Eat the mother duck.
4.Eat other baby ducklings that hatch.
