Six room 11 kids travelled to Egmont National Park to release the blue ducks on Tuesday 24 April 2012. We travelled in a car for a while. When we saw got to Egmont National Park we saw Kelly (D.O.C. Ranger) and she told us what we were going to do to release them.
The blue duck is endangered because there are only a few left because of STOATS, mostly stoats. The blue ducks came here by plane from Christchurch to Palmerston North and then were driven to Stratford.
When they were eggs DOC rangers or some of them went to the Egmont National Park to collect the eggs and they were taken and hatched and now they are grown they have come back to the Egmont National Park.
